Our new blog!

So, we decided to give in and become bloggers!

Ben and I are enjoying life in Charleston as students! Ben is having fun in dental school doing the tooth thing, and I am in my rotation year of PA school. I just started my 5th rotation today: surgery! I'm in Rock Hill for these next 5 weeks, and I spent my last 5 weeks in Greenville for family medicine. Ben and I are trusting the Lord to get us through these 10 weeks apart.

It's hard being apart, but I'm getting to visit lots of friends and family while I'm up here. I lived with my grandma (Nana) during this last rotation, so I got to spend lots of good time with her. It was challenging at times :), but I know I'll cherish getting to spend that time with her.

This past week, my parents went on a cruise, so Nana and I looked after Sophie (the West Highland terrier that I grew up with). She's 13 years old and pretty arthritic, but she still has a lot of spunk! Tuesday night I went to see the broadway musical Wicked at the Peace Center with my other grandma, my cousin Michelle, and my aunt Jan. My mom was out of town and couldn't use her ticket, so I snagged it from her! It was wicked good! :)

Wednesday I went over to the Brown's house for dinner. I started babysitting and nannying for that family when I was in 6th grade. Janelle was only 8 months old, and now she's a sophomore in high school! Their youngest, Bethany, was the flower girl in our wedding. On Thursday, Janelle came to my rotation with me. She is thinking about PA school, so she wanted to shadow me and see what it's all about. Craaazy that someone is shadowing me!!! We even got to help cut a bb out of a man's face (he was rabbit hunting with his brother who shot him in the face).

Thursday was my cousin Beth's birthday, so I went to dinner at Macaroni Grill with all of the Elrods and Nana, then had some of Nana's delicious nut cake back at their house. Friday I had my big pulmonary test, then GOT TO SEE MY MAN! Ben came up to Greenville to visit me for the weekend. We house sat at my parents' and had dinner with Ed and Sherry Byrd (my preceptors from my family medicine rotation). They took us to City Range for steaks and wine! Saturday night, Ben and I went to my cousin Michelle and her husband Brett's house for dinner. We got to play with their 18 month old twins Lauren and Grant. They were hilarious and so much fun. :)

Sunday I packed up all of my belongings once again and moved to Clover for this Rock Hill rotation. I'm living with the Drechslers for these 5 weeks. It's so wonderful to be able to stay with family when I'm away from Ben. I can't wait to start surgery this week!
